well... if all these political correctness nut jobs have their way, we probably wont have either of them eventually anyway! i mean who in their right mind, honestly, would take offence at BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP??? or Snow White and the 7 Dwarves?
sorry, detracting a little from your question there...
but if xmas was in march then we'd have no reason to listen to good 'ol Bing Crosby anymore. lol... and the easter bunny would still he hibernating!

Steven... but spelled with a 'PH' so 'Stephen'... cos that just downright weird on its own and deserves to be confined to the silence of space!

about 2days (48 straight hours) cos me and a mate were having a film fest type thing... so we didnt sleep... after 48 hours we were sitting on opposite sofas throwing a ball to each other to stay awake... the wierdest thing is neither of us stayed awake... but when we woke up, all of about a minute later... we were still trhowing the same ball... because while we were asleep, we didnt know that we were, and our brains seemed to be producing the images of the other throwing the ball, and because it was a constant rhythmic excercise... it carried on... haha! that kept us awake for another few hours just cos it was that freaky we got excited by it. lol

i think that you make very very valid points, that religion is just mass marketing, in that each prophet has its own ideals but they all result in the same... however contradictary to each other they are.
But the alternative to that could always be interpreted as (and this is from a non-religious p.o.v) that no matter what your views or ideals, you are accepted by god.
And in regards to your #2 statement, i have found that religion has nothing to do with a families closeness or structure, its how they are brought up and taught... as it goes my family arent religious in the slightest, but we are very closely bonded in that we try and gather as often as possible.
Thirdly, religion is a means of power in my eyes... (if this offends anyone, then grow up, you shouldnt take offence because someone has a different point of view, as that makes you just as biggoted as the offender appears in your eyes)... power through both money and fear... my honest oppinion is that religion is a pyschological security blanket for those that cant handle the fact that we ARE alone, so they turn to a 'higher power' for comfort.(and yes, i know that Freud said this also, but when i thought it for the first time a few years ago, i didnt know that) but by creating and controling religion (as with the pope, and other leader icons) you have power over the masses and therefor you are as good as 'god' in your own right.
lastly, if the catholic religion is so based around family bonding and enrichment (as per #7)... then i wondered why, has its 1 promenant leader... the pope... and all of his consortium, not got any family? no children... nothing! is it a 'do as i say, not as i do' ruling? or a '1 rule for me, another for every other' ruling?

i think you might be refering to the song 'Place your hands' by Reef. and the line is actually;
'Oh place your hands,on my hope,
run your fingers through my soul,
and the way that i feel right now,
oh lord it may go.
Put your hands on, put your hands on
etc. etc.'
hope that helps. great song!
