Constantinople first picked up the name Istanbul when it was taken over by the Ottoman Turks in the 1450s, but it kept Constatinople as its official name until the Republic of Turkey was founded. The official name was changed to Istanbul in 1930.
Angola has a similar timline, although it's name has changed several times over the course of the Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman control of the city. The name was offcially changed to Ankara at the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923 when Attaturk made it the capital.

One of the reasons it looks fake is likely the chemicals in the dyes that are designed to supress color first (or simply strip it with peroxide) and then add the actual dye color. On greys, this means a) a really bright dye color and b) your whole head turns the exact same color rather than varying shades and highlights.
Something you may want to try is an all natural dye that has it's color base in henna or coffee or ink. I know Lush hair dyes do a great job.
