It depends whether your father left a will. If he didn't then his next of kin will inherit it (his wife).Your circumstances might be different but someone i know has gone through similar.Her mother died leaving no will,her stepfather inherited everything.He passed away last year without a will and everything went to his next of kin(his children).All the family used to get on before, but since his death his children have found out that they inherit everything all my friend got was her mothers belongings and her own things.They have not spoken to my friend since.When she saw a solicitor she was told she didn't have a leg to stand on. She can put a claim in for probate but unlikely to get anything unless the family see sence and give her what she really is entitled to.You do need to seek advice from a solicitor or citizens advice bureau.Hopefuuly you will have better luck than my friend.

There is the Data Protection Act 1998 (which replaced the previous Data Protection Act 1984,access to Health Records Act 1990 and Access to Personal Files Act 1987) this came into force in march 2000.
It all depends on the person and what information because there are others acts to take into account like;
Access to Medical Records Act,Childrens Act,Mental Health Act and Disabled Persons Act.
If you work for an organisation then they should have polices and guidelines for your workplace on all of the subjects you are talking about.

The company i work for has guidelines on use of mobiles when on shift . Use of mobiles is not allowed while you are working and if you are caught using a mobile while on shift it is at the managers discretion whether the confiscate it until the end of your shift. They have to return it when your shift finishes.Does your employer have guidelines on this matter?
