one thing that seem to be left out is a graphics tablet. i think they are more accurate but if it is for genneral computing a optical mouse.

does your computer go through POST (this is where you computer beeps at you) this is a basic system test that can point out if there is a hardware issue. Doe sit beep twice as it usually do. also have you made any recent changes to the computer? also the problem could point to your graphics card. If you are able to to either disconnect you hard drive and re connect to make sure all the connectors are ok also try the same with your graphics card. I have fixed a few computers that way as sometimes connectors can come loose or even fail after a period of time but it is not very common. does the monitor not go green either as that can point to a falt with your graphics card.

if you use a program called everest home edition that can tell you what version of motherboard you have and version of bios and also where to get an update

i would suggest remove any unused programs, ensure it is virus free, defrag, do a system check to make sure you OS is stable and you can also use ctrl. alt, delete to see if your swop file or processor is being over worked
