Gravity causes venous return to decrease. Storke volume decreases, Cardiac output decreases. Transient drop in blood pressure occurs. When baroreceptors detect it, they stimulate sympathetic activity, which causes venoconstriction. The effective circulating blood volume also decreases upon standing. Cerebral blood vessels dilate also. Arterial pressure measured at the heart level tends to stay the same, but arterial pressure below the heart increases. Arteries collapse a little.
