1. Diet – Do not consume fatty products (such as Haegan Daz ice cream, Mac Donald’s, KFC, pizza) There was a report recently that French fries are very bad for your body as they contain large amounts of saturated fats. If you think you are craving to eat something sweet, eat fruits. Also eat a lot of vegetables. If you need to eat meat, eat fish (not chicken, crab). Fish has oils (HDL) which lower blood cholesterol levels and therefore is good for you. Cook food in canola or olive oil. As these are polyunsaturated oils, they help lower cholesterol levels.
2. Exercise – Go for brisk walking with mummy everyday for 1 hour continuously. Do not go to the park and sit down for a break in the middle. Consult a dietitian. Join a weight reduction programme at a hospital also and very religiously attend it. Furthermore, reducing abdominal fat significantly lowers your risk of disease in the future (so do 50 proper sit-ups everyday).
3. Medicine -The lipid (fat) lowering drugs if u have been been prescribed them, need to be taken regularly. These lipid (fat) lowering drugs are only known to work with dietary changes. They are very effective and are known to reduce mortality by 30-40%, and therefore it is very worth your while to take them properly.
4. The website of British heart foundation may give more valuable tips. http://www.heartstats.org/homepage.asp
