Of mainland latin American countries El Salvador has a pop. density of 318 people per square kilometer with a total population of 6,704,932. Brazil in comparison has pop. density of 21.

population density is perhaps a better way to gauge how people experience living in a place although it can only be an average; in heavily inhabited areas, such as cities, the population density will be much higher than in hinterlands.
