| Baobab2090 answers: Brazil is the latin American country, i.e. those south of the USA on island and continental North and South America, with the highest population. As of 2004 it had a population of 186,112,794, the fourth highest population of any country in the world.
In regard to population density, Bermuda (a Latin American island in the carribean) has an exceptionally high value of 1,226 people per square kilometer with a total population of 65,365. Of mainland latin American countries El Salvador has a pop. density of 318 people per square kilometer with a total population of 6,704,932. Brazil in comparison has pop. density of 21.
population density is perhaps a better way to gauge how people experience living in a place although it can only be an average; in heavily inhabited areas, such as cities, the population density will be much higher than in hinterlands. 3 years ago / reply
