| Atlantis_device answers: If you have iTunes or a similar Internet oriented music player try some of the radio stations in the ‘electronica’ category. Alternatively you can buy Cds from record shops such as HMV or Virgin although for larger selections of specialist music you may be better off ordering online or going to privately owned record stores. The Camden Lock Market in London (Nearest tube Camden Town, Northern Line) has lots of good elecronic music shops notably the Psychedelic Dream Temple (trance, psytrance, chill-out, ambient, world, reggae and dub) and the opposite shop Cyberdog selling hard trance and exciting clothes.
Both of these stores have lots of free flyers for club nights and events as well as the Dream Temple hosting its own dance and ambient nights in the shop and café. Apart from music shops check out record labels’ websites and the website www.accessallareas.org, a website devoted to listing parties and selling tickets. Depending on events you might pay around £5-20.
An unusual event is the Klinker, at the Sussex Pub, 107a Culford Road, Islington: Tuesdays and Fridays 8.30 pm £5/£2.50 concessions. Described by themselves as a mixture of Improvisation, musics, films, vocal acrobatics, contraptions, word, right weird and pants. Some of this might be electronic. This is more the sort of place for experimental and artistic electronica - don’t expect drum and bass, trance or any lasers (although all three might happen!). 3 years ago / reply
