Nitrogen is the seventh element in the periodic table. The usual symbol for nitrogen used in chemical equations is
N2 where the 2 should be a subscript to mean that there are two atoms per molecule. I do not know how to write chemical or mathematical equations at this site. I hope one day Latex will be supported here.

Symbol is N, atomic number is 7 (therefore symbol is N7). It's atomic number is 7 because it has 7 protons/electrons and 7 neutrons. It is classified as a non-metal, is colourless and has an atomic mass of 14.00674 amu.
