Does legislation state there have to be toilets in cafes for customers?
I was recently in a cafe with my 4 year old daughter who, as is normal, needed to use the toilet half way through eating when I asked the waitress where the toilets were she replied that there were no toilets. I asked her were there no toilets at all in the building and she answered by saying there were but only for employees - good answer as she knew as I did the Workplace Regs state there have to be.
I therefore had to leave the cafe with my daughter to find her a toilet - I really don't think this is acceptable after all they are suppose to be providing a service and what happened to Duty of Care to the public?!

| TallScotsGuy answers: It must be a long established cafe. Cafes opened and trading before the legislation changed (some time ago) would be exempt. If you open a new cafe today then yes, you will need to provide toilets. 3 years ago / reply
