If you were me, what would you do if overloaded with coursework?
Having just finished a piece of Child Development for tomorrow, I'm now panicking about an English essay for Tuesday. I'm going to a Sixth Form open evening tomorrow night and I've only half finished this piece of coursework, despite spending a good chunk of my weekend on it.
If you were me would you:
A) Finish it whatever it takes, missing Top Gear and not sleeping if necessary
B) Do as much as you can while still sleeping normally
C) Forget about it and watch Top Gear - the school only send it off to be examined in February, you've technically got plenty of time
D) Go into school tomorrow and explain to your English teacher that you probably won't have it finished but have spent ages and ages on it
E) Get your parents to write a stroppy letter to you Head of Pastoral Care demanding that coursework be more evenly distributed throughout the term
F) Any combination of the above.
Or, of course, I could always get on with it rather than asking a question about it here...
Supplement from 11/05/2007 04:37pm: Yes! I've done it! Admittedly not to a very high standard, but it can be improved at a later date.
And I didn't watch Top Gear :-(
asked in coursework, ridiculous, driving me mad

| Topaz2308 answers: Do as much of it as you can Snow but it essential that you get the appropriate amount of sleep. If you don't your work tomorrow will suffer and when you have to see your sixth form you will be to tired to take it all in.
You have to get an even balance to keep yourself fully alert and significantly rested to cope with the strain of your exam year.
I wish you all the luck and remember Top Gear is repeated at 7pm on Wednesday so you won't completely miss out. 3 years ago / reply

| KentPDG answers: A. Not a bad choice, certainly giving up TV entertainment; but allowing yourself reasonable sleep.
B. Insufficient, because it's too easy to convince oneself to quit, because "I'm tired". Some tasks just require making personal sacrifices.
C. Absolutely not.
D. No. Teachers already hear too much whining and complaining. You are expected to find time to do your assignments fully, and by the deadline.
E. Pointless
F. Just buckle down, and get to work. 3 years ago / reply

| agentju90 answers: strangly, i'd go and have a talk to the tutor or his boss about things. it can't make things any harder and may even help. yes they hear it alot, but in that case they'll know how to help. they'll also know if a person is genuinly having problems or just being lazy. i'm pretty sure you're a hard worker, so they should be willing to help you out. don't make a habit of it though. 3 years ago / reply

| imfeduptoo answers: My grandaughter also has too much coursework and often can't finish it in time. She's found that if she takes in uncompleted work which shows she has worked hard on it, the teachers are ubderstanding, and as you say, you have actually got a long time before it really, really has to be in.
So, if I were you, I would do as much as you can without losing too much sleep, because you won't work so well the next day if you're tired; have a break now and again to watch a programme on TV - you will work better after a short break, and take your work in even if it is incomplete, explaining that you have spent a lot of time on it but been unable to finish. I'm sure they will understand and know that you haven't been lazy.
It's good idea to book a weekend to do nothing but coursework - not a huge sacrifice and you'll be amazed at how much you can get done.
Above all, don't get stressed about it that will just make it difficult to think clearly and quickly.
Good luck. 3 years ago / reply

Life is too short for formal education - give it up, have a bonfire tomorrow with all those pointless pieces of paper and just enjoy life. 3 years ago / reply
