Lottery - what would you do if you won the jackpot?
Would you jack in your job or keep working?
Would you give some of it away to worthy causes?
Indulge yourself in pure fantasy for a moment and imagine what you could do if you won...

well i wouldn't scream or cheer lol. i think i'd invest it and live off the interest. i'd still work at the animal shelter. i don't see that as a job. it's something i enjoy. i think i'd donate alot to charities. i don't think money will change me.

Be a bit surprised and inform them they had made a mistake as I dont do it:)

But to induldge the fantasy, I dont expect it would make a huge difference to my life, I dont really place much value on money, I live comfortably and would give most of it away to causes I feel strongly about.

I feel in truth too much accumulation of wealth and property is unethical.

After I'd recovered control of my bowels . . .

A lot would depend on how much I won but if it was enough I would like to have a trip to the UK with the idea of returning to live there : that wouldn't be certain which is why I would need a trip to find out.

The type of charity that I have become interested in is the type that look after homeless people. I have been in the position where I needed their help and received it without question. Unfortunately it is not the kind of thing I could do myself which of course is another reason to help in the only way I can - with a donation.

Apart from that it would life as close as possible to normal but probably not where I'm living now.

Would winning the lottery change me? ... you bet it would! What's the point in doing it if winning isn't going to change your life. "Indulge yourself in pure fantasy for a moment" ... for a moment? I look through the property section of the local paper each week in case there's a house I want to buy if I win. I know what car I will buy, even what extras I'm going to ask for! Mind you, I've been doing this since the days of the "Football Pools" so don't actually have much hopes, but somebody wins almost every week (in the UK) so I stand as much chance with my £1 as everyone else with theirs.

I don't know about my job. I like doing it. I guess I'd wait until one of those days when I'm feeling down with it. Probably when I'm at airport going to some God forsaken hole somewhere and see a flight to Florida leaving five minutes before!!

There may be a few people on the planet who would not be changed in any way by such a large win but I sure am not one of them.
OK - the UK lottery has a 1:14million chance of winning the jackpot and the German lottery is worse - 1:140million - so buying a ticket gives infinitely more chance of winning, but it still isn't much. As a result I do not spend too much time fantasizing about winning big but here goes.
1. I would give up my current job, that I hate but pays well, and do something practical - probably for charity, but I have not thought that through yet.
2. I would secure the financial future for my wife and myself including buying a mortgage free house in an area of the UK of my choice. Nothing lavish - just comfortable.
3. I would see that my family (some of whom are struggling in the current financial climate) are OK.
4. I would spend some of it on travel - particularly to Australia & NZ to see family.
5. Finally, I would do what I could to help direct action charities in the poorest and least privileged regions of the world.

I'd probably do what most folks would do - first pay off a few mortgages, then buy a flash car and go on a nice holiday or two. Add to that a nice yacht, too, and some proper sailing lessons so I could take it anywhere in the world

I'd probably chuck a load in a trust for my daughter and any other sprogs that show up - purely so the tax man doesn't get his grubby little hands on it when I pop my clogs.

Would I quit my job? Possibly, but I wouldn't stop working - I'd get bored. I might not work quite so hard, though :-)

I would be on the first plane to a foreign country and whilst I lazed on a beach I would work out my strategy for the rest of the money. I wouldn't tell a sole apart from hubby that is as I couldn't stand all the begging letters and unscrupulous people that would crawl out of the woodwork.

After my hols probably wouldn't touch the money for a year just let the interest mount and then spend the interest rather than touch the actual money. I would then consider buying a business for hubby to run so he doesn't have to go offshore anymore and just to keep him busy and out of my hair.

Well I did try last night but only got 2 numbers..
If i won under 500K then I'd probably invest it ready for my retirement.
Anything over that then it'll be go to work only to say what i really thought of the company and some of the people who work there.
Next would be a world cruise. Stop off in Australia to find some relatives. Time in the Carribean on the way back.
Then i'd do this:
MAke sure my son's were comfortable.
May move -but i love our house.
Not really bothered changing the car, but would like to hire an Aston for a while.
MAke sure some was tucked away to make sure we can still do things we want to do.
I'd like to think that i would spend some time doing some good work for charities too.

didn't have to think about this one!
I'd buy two houses in Evian with a view of Lake Geneva and the mountains, one for us and one for my son and his family.
And hopefully there would be enough money left over so we could just have fun for the rest of our lives.

Definitely wouldnt give up work as i love my job and i think i'd get bored after a while if i didnt have something to keep me occupied!! I might take a sabbatical and travel the world....stay in luxury hotels....what bliss!! I'd buy a house and possibly a holiday home too plus a new car. I'd donate a significant amount to charity and gift a lot of it to friends and family too. I would also visit Lea, a child i sponsor in Malawi. I'd invest the rest(assuming my win was a large one of course!!)and then retire aged 50 or so and then travel the world again!!
