You can't get around it. The system is there so that they can check a) that you're over 18 and b) that you're trustworthy enough according to banks.

When i registerd I didn't get asked for one, nut that was a whill ago. I signed up for paypal though so I didn't have to give one.

It always used to be that if you had a webmail email address (hotmail, yahoo etc) they'd ask for your credit card, but they were OK if you were obviously using a company email account (ie you had a job).

you dont need a credit to register, you'll only need to add this later if you plan on buying via paypal, or setting up an account to receive paypal for selling.
