Bonfire tonight as some know, But could i please remind members and their families please check your bonfires for Hedgehogs, have you checked yours yet?
I know lot of members are sensible on here, but with mild weather out mo, Hedgehogs are still out and about.
So please check your bonfires etc.Als have a safe Night to.
If you do see a hedgehog out in the day, please pick it up, weigh it if possible if its under 500 grams, it will need to be passed onto a rescue centre.
If you cannot get to rescue centre quickly, please do not give them Milk, it can kill them. Cat meat and water are fine.
Have a safe and smokeynight all.

I have checked my hedgehog and, on first inspection, he appears to be armed with blue touchpaper and a box of matches - there's no holding him back and he just wants to get the first Roman Candle on the go...I fear he may be a little over excited, there could be tears.

On a more serious note and seeing as how I've just had a rant, I'll add something useful.

Sadly I won't be having a bonfire, however, there are hedgehogs in the garden and the joy of catching snails and leaving them with a bowl of water to later hear them being crunched is very satisfying.
As you say, bread and milk is not good.

We're not having a bonfire at home; it's far easier to go to the one organised by the scouts.

Even if I were having a bonfire, I wouldn't be checking it until just before lighting it.

No point checking the thing hours beforehand, the pricklies could climb in during the intervening timespan.
