If some-one is in constant pain, can it put a strain on the heart?
Was just pondering on this. I know when some-one is in constant pain, it can affect them mentally and in some degrees physically.I.E. tiredness etc. But it got me wondering could it eventually strain the heart? say some-one been suffering non stop pain 24/7 for about 30 years . That 1 just an example.
asked in pain, heart, strain

I found this:

"Pain can increase your blood pressure and heart rate, which puts strain on the heart. This usually will not matter for a healthy heart, but for the less healthy ones this can lead to a heart attack!"

When my late husband had a heart attack the GP gave him a morphine injection for the pain, saying that pain increases stress levels so would aggravate the heart problem.
