What is the origin of the name Peterman for a safe-cracker?
asked in idioms, safe, words

| P-Kasso answers: Cockney slang...Peter Pan = Can.
Can was slang for a safe. Hence Peter Pan and then subsequently shortened to Peter so the Rozzers wouldn't know what was being talked about or planned. 3 years ago / reply
