Is there any way to print postage stamps (in the UK) without having to pay a monthly subscription?
PayPal, for example, allows you to print postage for your Ebay items, but I can't find an equivalent that just lets you buy and print out stamps as you need them. SmartStamp seems the closest thing, but you have to pay £4.99/month to use that system.

The Royal Mail do it with no extra charges beyond the actual postage cost

How bizarre - I didn't realise that SmartStamp was a Royal Mail offering. On reading their gumf, it seems SmartStamp is aimed at the business user, as you can add logo's and whatnot to your stamps. But their "Home" offering will let you just print the postage.

As above, there is pay as you postage, but you should make sure you have compatible printer and envelopes which can go through the machine, i was dissappointed that it does not print on labels.
